Head of Weather & Commodity EMEA, Munich Re

Marcel is Head of Weather & Commodity EMEA/APAC within Munich Re‘s Global Weather Team. Based in Zurich he is leading the group‘s origination and underwriting activities in EMEA and Asia-Pacific.

Marcel joined Munich Re in 2005 and held various position in both, the reinsurance and primary insurance segment working mostly on alternative risk transfer solutions. Marcel was part of Munich Re’s project team for the acquisition of RenRe Energy Advisors in 2013 and the subsequent set-up of the target operation model within Munich Re to establish the Group’s enlarged activity in the weather risk management market.

He holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Mannheim, Germany majoring in Insurance, Banking and Finance. He is a father of two sons and enjoys spending his spare time with his family and exploring Swiss mountains.
